Those of you who weren’t happy enough with HSPA+ connectivity on your new Galaxy Camera may want to consider another option, as Verizon has officially launched the Samsung Galaxy Camera on their massive 4G LTE network. Aside from having a different radio, Verizon’s Galaxy Camera is essentially the same as the international variant. The device is touting a 16-megapixel shooter, a 23mm lens with 21X optical zoom powered by Samsung’s quad-core Exynos CPU with 1 gig of RAM. On the software side, you’ll be using Samsung’s TouchWiz interface based off of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Consumers wanting to pick up a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Camera will be set back a whopping $549.99, $50 more than the HSPA+ model that is currently being offered through AT&T and various international carriers. Albeit, you’ll be happy to know that Verizon is trying to ease that steep price tag, as they are currently running a special promotion with the Galaxy Camera which will let customers add the device to their Share Everything plan for a mere $5 per month as opposed to the usual $10. Consumers interested in a red version of the Galaxy Camera will be disappointed, as there is no red version, but consumers will be able to grab the exclusive black version here in the U.S. from Verizon.
The Galaxy Camera definitely looks like an interesting device. Unfortunately, I personally don’t see the point of a carrier attachment with the Galaxy Camera. I’d much rather take pictures with it offline and then do all of the photo editing and uploading later in the day when I am near my home Wi-Fi connection.
