BlackBerry Unveils BlackBerry 10 And Its First Two Devices, The Z10 And Q10

RIM(RIMM) is dead — but BlackBerry is alive. The company formerly known as Research in Motion on Wednesday announced that it had formally changed its name to BlackBerry, the longtime brand name of its famous mobile devices. More importantly, the company announced its first new smartphones in more than a year: The BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Q10. We’ve heard a lot about the Z10 over the past several months, and it came as advertised: a full touch screen device with a 4.2-inch high definitiondisplay with a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixelrear camera and an 1,800 mAh battery. The Q10, meanwhile, is a BlackBerry 10 device that includes a 3.1-inch square display and a full QWERTY keyboard that BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said provided “the best typing experience, period.” Verizon (VZ) has announced that it will sell the BlackBerry Z10 for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement.
