Google Glass gets its first software update


According to the latest report and news from the below source, Google Glass gets first software update. The update known as the XE5 update contains a number of bug fixes, optimization changes and along with it the update brings Google Plus notifications with the ability for user to comment and '+1' to messages and a DeviceInfo card that shows the serial number of your Google Glass.

Google says that the update will not effect the battery longevity directly, as its percentage indicator is now more accurate.

XE5 Update :

  • Change to sync policy: require power + WiFi for background uploads
  • Crash reporting
  • Incoming G+ notifications (direct shares, comments, +mentions), including ability to comment and +1
  • Incoming Hangout notifications
  • Transcription of queries & messages is now wicked-fast
  • Long-press to search from anywhere in the UI (no longer just from off)
  • International number dialing + SMS
  • Hop animation on disallowed swipes in the UI
  • New On-Head Detection calibration flow 
  • Show device Serial Number on Device Info card 
  • More reliable estimation of battery charge remaining 
  • New recipient-list mosaic
