Galaxy Gear – get watch smart

Samsung Galaxy Gear watch has created much curiosity among the people. This is a smart watch and is compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy Gear. The smart watch is the company’s very first attempt to enter the futurist world with technological growth. This watch is something very different from the present smartwatches available. It has a full color display and comes with an integrated camera besides; it also supports a 70+ third party application. But what is the smartwatch and why do we need it in the first place?

Future for the Galaxy Gear seems to be bright as it will support the Galaxy series as the software updates to android 4.3. However, there are no official statements about it.

Design of the Galaxy Gear

It does look smart and is very sleek. It however looks very large, but with elegant looks. It does go well with the silicone band and the metallic bezels that enhance the looks. You will love wearing it as the feeling is simply futuristic. Besides, that though, there are some things that bother. To begin with the camera might invite scratches during everyday use. The light weight is another attraction that will make you wear it for more than once in a day. The device comes with a nice 1.63 inches of AMOLED display with 320 x 320 resolution. The screen is good and you can easily view what it is displayed.

This smartwatch comes with an 800 MHz exynos processor and has 512 MB of RAM with 4 GB of onboard storage that is non – expandable. There is an integrated 1.9 mega pixels camera that is capable of recording on 720p. it is as of now compatible only with the Note 3 and this s what makes it difficult for buyers.

Using the Gear

The interface is very simple and is easy to use. The gear comes integrated with the Samsung’s S voice software that helps you take control of the functions by simply talking to the watch. Swiping is also instant and scrolling is easy too. The notification panels and other menus are easy to operate. If you receive a call, you get to see the screen pop up and also the text messages too. Placing a call or texting is also easily down. You get it all on the screen. As the screen is not a good option for typing, the S Voice is will come into use. However, here you will have a hurricane task to accomplish. 

Applications

The Gear comes with a series of apps and you can add some as well. It has a pedometer that helps you with your daily walk. There are few good ones like this and third party clock faces. However, without Gmail or Google’s hangouts it is not a good option. As most of the people get their notifications from these two, the Galaxy Gear should have come with one of these. But, for some reason there is a lack of thoughtfulness. No, you will not be able to view Gmail, which means this is not good for your daily tasks. But, for starters there are apps like Evernote, Runstastic, a Spin, Snapchat, Path etc. 

The price of this device is around $300.
