Last week, a Samsung device bound for the Korean market showed its papers to the FCC. It is not a flagship device based on display itself, yet the display does happen to measure 5-inches. On the Galaxy Grand, we are seeing an LCD display that is only 480x800 resolution compared to the monster we might get with the Galaxy S4.
As the saying goes, “do not judge a book by its cover.” The Galaxy Grand is reported to have a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, 2100 mAh battery, NFC, and supports Wi-Fi in all flavors, as well as LTE. That is not exactly a bottom-of-the-line list. The rest of the device has fairly close dimensions to the Galaxy S III. Given the larger display while remaining within 7 or 8 millimeters in overall chassis size, it would fit Samsung’s method to not let size get out of hand (though arguably not as effectively as with the Galaxy Note II )with a larger screen.
We may see this Galaxy Grand make its debut in the next week or two, and who knows, maybe it will show a design direction for the next flagship.
