Apple seeds iOS 6 Beta 2 to developers, expires July 31st

Apple has made the second beta of iOS 6 available to developers 2 weeks after the announcement of iOS 6. As expected, beta 2 brings some bug fixes and performance enhancements as explained in the full changelog pasted below.

Apple announced iOS 6 at WWDC 2012 two weeks ago with two hundred new features including a revamped Siri, availability of Siri on iPad 3, introduction of Apple Maps in place of Google Maps and system-wide Facebook integration to name a few and announced that iOS 6 will be made available to all users in fall. iPhone 4S made its debut back in October last year when Apple had announced iOS 5 at WWDC ’11 for last year’s fall season; they have made the same announcement this year so cross your fingers for iPhone 5 in October along with the availability of iOS 6.

iOS 6 when it comes out, will be available for as old devices as iPhone 3GS counting in all the newer devices including iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2 and iPad 3. It is currently available only to registered Apple developers because it is released for testing purposes only and is known to have problems and bugs. It is not meant for everyday use as a lot of apps would crash and system may perform weirdly at times.

Apple is pushing iOS 6 beta 2 to developer devices running iOS 6 beta 1 via OTA but developers can also download IPSW from their developer accounts if they prefer. If you are updating via OTA, you’d notice a little cosmetic update that the gears on the update screen are now animated and keep spinning during the update process.
