Samsung Unveils Next Galaxy Device on August 15

Samsung released a media invitation last Friday for the unveiling of the newest addition to their Galaxy line. The event is scheduled on August 15 when the South Korean giant will host a press conference to reveal the details regarding the device.

To keep curiosity levels up, Samsung has not stated explicitly what the device will be. Speculations, however, are strong that the company will be unveiling not a phone since the announcement has been sent from Samsung Electronics America instead of Samsung Telecommunications America, which is usually responsible for Samsung’s handsets in the region. Moreover, Samsung has just released the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone a few months ago, and releasing a new phone could simply take the public’s focus off that gadget.

The new Galaxy, rather, could be one of two highly-rumored devices. The first is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, the larger version of the popular stylus-enabled phone tablet hybrid, the Samsung Galaxy Note. The second is the Samsung Galaxy Note II, which is the sequel to the 5.3-inch phablet.

Among these, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is more likely to be revealed on August 15 since recent speculations point to an August 30 unveiling for the Galaxy Note II in Berlin, Germany. The latter is said to be making its first appearance at the Unpacked event that will be held one day before the IFA trade show.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 could be Samsung’s replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which is under a preliminary injunction at present. The 10-inch Note has already been showcased at the Mobile World Congress around five months ago, but it has yet to make its official debut. Moreover, the device has been recently put up for pre-order which means that stores could soon also carry the device.

Among the features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are the Quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos processor, a display with a 1280 x 800 resolution, up to 64GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 5-megapixel main camera, a 1.9 megapixel web camera, Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and the S Pen stylus.
