LG Optimus 4X HD to be launched by mid-July in India





LG is preparing to launch its first quad core smartphone - Optimus 4X HD with 720p HD display in India.




LG will launch two new smartphones running Google Android mobile operating system in India next week. LG India is expected to launch the new Optimus L5 and Optimus 4X HD smartphones with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The Optimus L5 is a mid-range device while Optimus 4X HD is a high end device with a 720p HD display. The company already offers Optimus L7 and L3 in India.

LG plans to launch the high end quad core mobile processor based smartphone Optimus 4X HD in India. 4X HD P880 smartphone features a 4.7 inch True HD IPS panel touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel native resolution. This display offers great viewing angles and 312 pixel per inch density. For strength and resistance to scratches, the display has been manufactured using Corning's Gorilla Glass.




Optimus 4X HD houses a quad core 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra processor with a low power GeForce graphics chip. For smoother operation of Android 4.0 ICS with Optimus 3.0 UI on it, LG has used a 1 GB RAM. By default, this smartphone features 16 GB on-board storage and a microSD card slot to accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB. Weighing a mere 133 grams this smartphone is only 8.9 mm thick.






n this device LG has used an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash as well as autofocus that is capable of recording 1080p HD video at 30 frames per second. There's also a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video calling and chat. Other features include GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, accelerometer, gyroscopic sensor, support for a variety of popular audio-video formats, stereo FM with RDS, WiFi Direct, and DLNA compliance.

LG has added a 2150 mAh battery to the Optimus 4X HD to make it run longer and support talk time of about 9.5 hours over 3G.

The mid-range Optimus L5 features a 4.0 inch touchscreen display but slightly disappointing 320 x 480 pixel resolution. Running Android 4.0 ICS with Optimus 3.0 UI, Optimus L5 houses an 800 MHz Cortex A5 based Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225A mobile processor. This smartphone has 512 MB RAM and offers only 4 GB on-board storage. At the back lies a modest 5 megapixel camera and there is no front facing camera. Packing the regular set of goodies, this phone comes with a 1500 mAh battery and promises up to 9.2 hours of talk time.

LG Optimus 4X HD is a high end smartphone and we expect it to be priced around Rs 32,000 or higher. On the other hand, Optimus L5 can be expected to be priced around Rs 16,000.
