Samsung to hold another “Unpacked Event” on the 30th of August to unveil Galaxy Note 2? [Rumor]

The first Galaxy Note was unveiled back in September 2011 during the IFA trade show and it looks like its rumored successor, the Galaxy Note 2, will be announced at this year’s edition of the German electronics fair. Samsung is reportedly going to hold a special Unpacked mobile event on August 30, a day before IFA 2012 kicks off, and the star of the show is without a doubt the next-gen phablet.

The news trickled in right from Asia where DDaily reports that the South Korean Android device manufacturer has scheduled a special media event for August 30 and the event is already confirmed – it will take place in Berlin at 7:00 PM local time.

According to the same publication, the Galaxy Note 2 will feature a 5.5-inch touchscreen display, 0.2-inch bigger than its predecessor, but it will have a smaller bezel. The device will reportedly sport a quad-core processor made by Samsung, most likely the Exynos 4 Quad CPU that’s also used by the Galaxy S3, S Pen support and 3G and 4G LTE connectivity. We also expect the device to come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board, although that’s also yet to be confirmed.

An earlier report claimed that Samsung is interested in launching the Galaxy Note 2 before Apple ships its sixth-generation iPhone – expected to launch in October – so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Galaxy Note 2 hit certain markets as early as September. The Asian publication also seems to believe that the 3G model would be launched in Europe in September, while the 4G LTE version will hit stores later down the road, if the available translation is to be believed.
