Huawei unleashes the large-screened Ascend G600

A brand new Android smartphone has been announced by Huawei today - the Ascend G600. The new model will bring some very cool features to potential customers who don't want to spend a fortune on a phone.

Powered by a decent 1.2GHz dual-core processor, the Ascend G600's main pride will be its sizable 4.5-inch IPS touchscreen. Although the company calls it "IPS HD" in the press-release, though, the reality is that the resolution is qHD - 540x960 pixels, which should still provide pretty good screen clarity.

Other features of the device include an 8MP camera with BSI sensor, stereo speakers, 768MB RAM, microSD slot, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, NFC and a 1930mAh battery with a promised stand-by time of over 15 days.

The G600 will launch with Android 4.0 ICS, covered by Huawei's own skin, of course, with no mention of a forthcoming Jelly Bean update.

Users who would like to experience some dual-core-powered Android 4 goodness on a large, 4.5" display without breaking the bank should expect the device to launch in September across selected international markets.
