New 5.8 inch Samsung Galaxy Player with Android 4.0 ICS coming soon?

Samsung might be readying the launch of a new Galaxy Player which reportedly runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (this would be a first, since the previous Galaxy Players came out with Gingerbread).

The new Samsung media player reportedly features a 5.8 inch display with 960 x 540 pixels – so it will be bigger even than the next-generation Galaxy Note smartphone (which should have a 5.5 inch display). Other expected features: Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, 3MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, MicroSD card support, and a 2,500 mAh battery.

If the photo seen below shows the real new Galaxy Player, then the device looks a lot like a Galaxy S III with dual speakers at the top and bottom:

Sony has already announced an Android ICS media player (the Walkman F800), but it didn’t say exactly when that would become available. The new Samsung Galaxy Player could be officially unveiled at IFA 2012 in a couple of weeks. We’ll let you know if it happens.
