Huawei is a very well-known company. It is a China based networking and telecommunications equipment supplier, it is also the second largest supplier of mobile telecommunications infrastructure equipment in the world, so the mobile tower your phone is connected to right now will most probably have equipment from this company. Huawei also sells variety of devices including modems, smartphones and tablets under its own name and is one of the “proud to be made in China” brands.
Huawei has announced two smartphone devices, the Huawei Ascend G330 and Ascend G600. The Huawei Ascend G300 has always been touted as one of the best entry level Android phones one can buy. Building on that success, the Chinese telecom major has announced Ascend G300. The Ascend G300 sibling had a 4 inch IPS LCD (480 x 800, 233 PPI) and was powered by 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon. Like the G300, the Ascend G330 also features a 4 inch 480×800 touchscreen and a 1 GHz dual core processor. What’s more? The device will be booting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) out of the box. Other technical features include 5 megapixel camera, a 1500 mAh battery and 4GB of internal storage
Along with Ascend G330, the company has also announced the Ascend G600. The features of Ascend G600 are more exciting. Unlike G330, the G600 is aimed at a bit higher-end market. G600 features a 4.5 inch LCD IPS HD screen and a 1.2 GHz dual core Qualcomm processor. Huawei has thrown in a 1930 mAh battery, and of course runs Android 4.0 ICS out of the box. There’s 4 gig of on board storage to play with, but you can always add more via microSD cards. NFC capabilities are thrown in too, as is DTS sound.
“We are very excited to introduce the new Huawei Ascend G600, which gives more functionality and power for people who expect more from their technology,” said Shao Yang, chief marketing officer at Huawei Device.
“Building on the success of the Ascend range of smartphones, the Huawei Ascend G600 is the latest in our range of flagship products that make exceptional product experiences accessible for more people globally.”
Apart from the fact that both the phones will be running Android 4.0 ICS, it will have the latest incarnation of Huawei’s Emotion UI running over it, and it is pretty to say the least. The Emotion UI aims at attracting the younger generation of users and gets rid of the app drawer entirely, which means apps will be added on to the homescreen. The interface supports widgets and they do the job pretty well. According to the company, the interface will make the phone easier to operate for any first-time Android user, but of course people who have already used Android may disagree with the concept. The Huawei Ascend G330 and Ascend G600 are anticipated to go on sale in Europe somewhere between November and September with a price tag of €199 and €299 respectively, and yes, both the phones will come SIM-free.
