During today’s IFA 2012 debut, Sony also unveiled the Xperia Tablet S slate, a follow-up to the Tablet S, that keeps the same design and diagonal size. What it adds is Android 4.0.3 ICS and a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. The device comes in 16, 32 or 64 GB storage version and offers Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and 3G connectivity, depending on the model you get.
Sony Xperia Tablet S has an ambient light sensor, gyro, compass, accelerometer and GPS. It has a 1 megapixel HD web camera and a rear 8 megapixel shooter. It measures 8.8mm in thickness and weighs 570 grams in the WiFi version. The battery inside is a 6000 mAh unit with the promise of achieving 10 hours of Internet browsing or 12 hours of video playback. The 9.4 inch screen supports a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and offers the new IPS OptiContrast revolutionary technology.
The new Xperia tablet is splash-proof and comes with Sony’s own signal processing technologies, like ClearAudio+, that allows you enjoy top notch video and audio content with a great sound. This device also acts as an universal remote control via infrared and now has a Macro function, that stores a sequence of commands that can be brought up later. Socialife is another app uniquely created by Sony and used to organize the social aspect of your life on Xperia Tablet S. The product is expected in stores from September 2012 and the price is unknown.
