Pipe’s Facebook file-transfer system finally launched

Pipe's a new Facebook app which will let you to transfer the files among you friends on Facebook. The app was launched couple of days back i.e on Wednesday.

The app will allow two friends to transfer files up to 1 GB which is 40 times the maximum attachment size on Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Hotmail. Its very simple to send or receive files via this new app as you just have to drag or drop them into the pipe. And you can also send files even if your friend is offline, the file will be stored in an online locker where the file will only store for 3 days.

This time only desktop version of app has came, but its Android and iOS version will soon be available. Head over to the below video to see how the Pipe works:

Pipe's CEO Simon Hossell told gigaom that “We’re not suggesting people will be abandoning other ways to send files. This is just such an easy way to send a file. You have access to everyone who’s close to you; you don’t even need to know their email address.”

Now it also seems that this app will gonna create problems for Dropbox and email. What do you think the app will compete with them or not?
