HTC EVO 4G LTE will receive HD Voice support by the end of the year

HD voice support, one of the main features that Sprint introduced with the HTC EVO 4G LTE, will become available for the smartphone sometime later this year.Sprint has confirmed the news, courtesy of PhoneScoop, saying that it plans to launch HD voice support for the HTC EVO 4G LTE before the year’s end.The carrier doesn’t expect HD voice support to take a more prominent role until 2013 when it will spread to more devices in Sprint’s lineup.

HD voice support is exactly what it sounds like it would be. Calls made using the service are immensely better sounding then those that are made without HD voice support. That’s not to say that calls made on the HTC EVO 4G LTE at this time are bad. In fact, they are as good as any other phone. However, HD voice support will make people on the other end sound even more crisp then they already are. This feature of course was one that Sprint introduced earlier this year alongside the HTC EVO 4G LTE itself. In fact, it was one of the features that Sprint touted at the EVO 4G LTE’s unveiling. And for good reason.

We aren’t sure whether support will be coming to any other Sprint phones currently on the market – Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Nexus – but we imagine that high-end phones of the future will all feature support for the service. No specific release date was given for the service so owners of the EVO 4G LTE should temper their expectations and assume that we are a ways off from an official release date.
