Samsung GT-B5330 leaked with ICS, QWERTY keyboard

Samsung is the star of the Android smartphone world lately, and, while a big part of its success comes from high-end devices, entry-level phones are still important for Sammy. And it’s no wonder that the Koreans are preoccupied with offering their users with decent low-end alternatives when the Galaxy Y, for example, used to ship in around 1.75 million units each month back in Q1.

Now a new entry-level smartphone from Samsung has surfaced and, while it will probably come with very poor hardware, it could capture the attention of tech users on a budget with two unexpected features.

First off, the GT-B5330 will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, which might be a bit dated by the time the phone sees the light of day, but it will still be strong software for an entry-level handheld. Sammy’s future phone will also come with a physical QWERTY keyboard, which doesn’t help the its overall look and design, but adds a touch of functionality which many users, especially outside the US, will much appreciate.

Of course, as the phone is not yet an officially confirmed device, these details and features are themselves not confirmed, but the information’s sources are trustworthy enough to set these specs in stone. We have, on one hand, some Chinese certification documents, and we also have a GLBenchmark listing, making this phone confirmed.

The rest of the features known at this time are far from special and include a QVGA (320 x 200 pixels resolution) display, 3G support, and a 850 MHz single-core processor whose model we still don’t know.

No words on pricing and future availability either, but we’re willing to bet we’re going to find out something official on those fronts soon enough. Also, it’s safe to assume that the GT-B5330 (not a final name, rest assured) will be made available in Asia first, with the European and US launches probably depending on the phone’s success in the Far East.

Is anyone excited about the possible future release of the Samsung GT-B5330? Does an ICS + QWERTY keyboard + low price + modest hardware equation sound like something you would be interested in?
