Toshiba Excite 13 Review

We must admit that Toshiba Excite 7.7 is a fine android tablet. However, it’s $500 price tag (for tthe 16GB version) might prevent some customers to bring this device to home. Toshiba also release bigger 32GB version, which priced at the same rate with New iPad, $580.

This is mean that Toshiba Excite 7.7 is also more expensive than it’s closest rival, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. With 11% cheaper price tag, you can take advantage from Verizon’s fast blazing 4G LTE connectivity. However, you must remember that the Galaxy tablet is still running on Android Honeycomb and posses dual-core, instead of quad-core, processors.

In terms of design, Toshiba Excite 7.7 manage to spark the aura of a premium product. We are really satisfied with how Toshiba designer team create the chassis for this tablet. There’s a bronze-colored, textured aluminum back with matching plastic edges. You can also find the buttons, volume rockers, power, and rotation buttons on it. Toshiba Excite 7.7 feature lightweight profile. It might not as light as any eReader, but you should be able to operate the tablet with single hand handling without any extra effort required.

Toshiba Excite 7.7 screen is able to provide maximum 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. It’s pixels density is currently measured at 196ppi (pixels per inch). Not as good as New iPad, but manage to take on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2′s 1024 x 600 pixels resolution. Texts and multimedia are looking great. The brightness level delivered at the perfect level and colors are vivid. We are manage to enjoy the tablet contents with ease, even under direct sunlight exposure. There’s no need to worry about scratch damage since the 16:10 ratio screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Toshiba Excite 7.7 also offer microSD card slot for data expansion. There are also micro USB port located on the bottom side. Audio jack is currently placed on the same side and looks like you need to use it on a landscape mode. There are dual-cameras unit attached. 2.0 megapixels on front and 5.0 megapixels on back. We manage to locate the charging dock, but we think that it is too bulky for an Android tablet.

In terms of software, there are not too many changes that Toshiba does on the Android 4.0 interface. It must be a welcome feature for Android purist. There are some pre-loaded clock, calendar, and weather widgets. You are free to place them any where on the home screen. All of them are resizable, so you can decorate your tablet as you want.

Well, that’s all we can tell you right now guys. If you think that we miss something from our explanation, feel free to contact us via comment box below. We are also welcome any kind of suggestion and critics here.
