A Microsoft job listing posted earlier this month may or may not hint at Office availability on iOS. More specifically, the iPad.
With the popularity of Apple’s tab on a perpetual incline, rumors of Office migrating to Apple’s mobile wonderland have run rampant. OnLive has offered a solution for months, but having an actual Microsoft-developed app is definitely something folks are hungry to use, particularly those in the corporate world.
Microsoft previously hinted its suite of applications could arrive on competing operating systems and, considering that Office 2013 is a huge step toward elegant touch usability, it’s not crazy to think some piece of the Redmond company’s suite is headed Apple’s way.
Filed under “Software Development Engineer in Test, Office for Mac,” candidates with OS X experience “will work very closely with the Development team on the design, implementation, & testing of new feature work to be part of Microsoft’s next move on the Mac and on iOS,” according to the listing.
The posting doesn’t expressly confirm that Office is ready to jump onto your new iPad, but the hints certainly suggest it’s a possibility. A report as recent as May claimed Office could arrive on November 10, which means we’re not that far off from seeing one of Microsoft’s most lucrative pieces of software head into hostile territory.
