Sony’s Google TV Device To Be Launched On 22nd

Sony has announced that it’s Google TV based Internet Player, the Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player as it’s officially called, will be up for grabs from the 22nd of next month both in the U.S. and the U.K. But if you cannot wait for that long, Sony has already made it available for pre-order from its website, www.sony.com/sonygoogletv. As for Canada, the company has confirmed an August launch. The internet player will also be made available in Australia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Brazil, and Mexico very soon.

“Expanding the reach and interoperability of the powerful Android platform with Sony’s smartphones, tablets and renowned Audio & Video products, we are proud to continue our relationship with Google through the introduction of the new Google TV set-top-box,”

The NSZ-GS7 Internet Player will be priced at $199. The other device that Sony has announced is the NSZ-GP9 Internet Blu-Ray Disc Player. It is expected to hit the market just before the Holiday season and will be priced at $299. The NSZ-GP9 Blu-Ray Disc player will have the combined capability of a Blu-Ray player and the Google Internet TV.

The NSZ-GS7 Internet Player is a second generation Google TV device from Sony and features an improved remote control which makes use of Bluetooth technology to communicate with the player instead of the traditional Infrared sensor. The remote is also capable of taking inputs via a touch screen. The backlit, QWERTY keyboard at the back side also makes internet browsing on Google TV easy. The remote even has a three way motion sensor which will make it possible for users to play a wide variety of Google TV compatible games which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Google TV has the capability to turn your TV into a complete entertainment and information station but it largely depends on the success of devices such as that of Sony.
