The New Kid In The Block: Ematic eGlide Pro X ICS Tablet

The choice of tablets available for a price point of $200 has been +1ed by the new entrant, eGlide Pro X from Ematic. If you are thinking why would anyone want to go for a tablet made by a relatively lesser known company when there are better choices to be found in the market for the same price, such as Amazon’s Kindle Fire and the Jelly Bean hotness, the upcoming, Asus built, Google Nexus 7. There is a major difference between these two tablets and the Ematic eGlide Pro X. eGlide Pro X is has a 9.7 inch screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio screen, the same screen size as the Apple iPad. So, there is the reason. A 10 inch screen tablet for the price of a 7 inch mini tablet. But is the eGlide Pro X really better than the other $200 tablets? Read on and decide for yourself.

The Good:
Starting with the design, the Ematic eGlide Pro X has a slim and minimalist design, which looks rather good. As mentioned earlier, it has a 9.7 inch screen with 4:3 aspect ratio. It is shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich as the default operating system, it is powered by a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, has 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. An extra feature that you get with every purchase of Ematic eGlide Pro X is 5GB of cloud-based storage, which is permanent and without any extra fee.
The other features are a front camera, WiFi a/b/g/n for connectivity, three-axis gyroscope, HDMI output with HD video playback support.

The eGlide comes with a bunch of pre loaded application which includes an Office app and the Kobo eBooks app. eGlide also comes with Ematic Digital Assistant & Navigator. It’s function is to convert speech to text to help you dictate emails. Also, you will not find the Google Play app in the tablet and instead you will be making app purchases through Ematic’s App Shop.

The Bad:
The 9.7 inch screen that we mentioned earlier, has a measly 800×480 pixel resolution.
