Alright, Sprint fans – today is your big day. After some delays due to inventory issues, Sprint is finally making Samsung's Galaxy S3 smartphone available for in-store purchasing starting today.
That said, it appears as if only the 16-gigabyte version of the smartphone is available at Sprint's retail stores. The 32-gigabyte version is still conspicuously absent, but it's an understandable delay given that Sprint was just barely recently able to start fulfilling preorders for the popular device.
"Good news. Samsung Galaxy S III will be available at Sprint beginning on Sunday, July 1. It will be offered in a 16GB version for $199.99 and 32GB version for $249.99 (excluding taxes) with a new line or eligible upgrade and two-year service agreement at Sprint Stores, Sprint Business Sales, Telesales and Web Sales," reads an earlier announcement posted to Sprint's online message boards. "The 32GB version will be available in Web Sales, Sprint Business Sales and Telesales."
Those who preordered the 16-gigabyte version of the phone via Sprint should have already received their devices as of June 21. Additionally, the 32-gigabyte version of the phone starting shipping roughly one week later on June 26.
Sprint's not the only carrier facing shipping or selling delays as a result of the Galaxy S3 "supply crisis." While AT&T was able to meet a number of its preorders for June 21 as well, there are still some customers eagerly awaiting the smartphone that their peers have gotten a chance to play with.
T-Mobile initially launched with the Galaxy S3 in 29 select, top-tier markets on June 21, postponing the larger in-store rollout until June 29. Additionally, the company has bumped up the price of the phone to $229 or $279 (with a $20 monthly fee as part of Sprint's Value Plan) or $279 or $329 (after a $50 mail-in rebate) as part of a Sprint Classic Plan.
Verizon is expected to start shipping Galaxy S3 orders in July – July 11, to be exact, after the addition of one-day delay to Verizon's original target of July 10 as a result of increased demand. The 16-gigabyte model should set enthusiasts back $199 and the 32-gigabyte version, $249.
