Google and Apple teaming up to buy Kodak patents

Maybe Eric Schmidt had something going when he said that Apple and Google have a more adult relationship which may have disputes, but can still have mutual value. Or at least, there may have been something to the idea that Apple never targets Google in lawsuits. Word has it that the two companies are planning to team up and put in a joint bid for Kodak's imaging patents.

Bloomberg reports that Apple and Google are in talks to put up a joint bid of $500 million for a block of 1,100 Kodak patents. These are actually the same patents at the center of the lawsuit where Kodak claimed Apple had tried to block the sale.

The report says that each company had tried to put together consortiums to purchase these patents earlier this year. Apple had tried to partner with Microsoft and Google with various Android manufacturers, before ultimately choosing to team up on the deal.

No word yet if the offer will be accepted.
